A Closer Look: Media Arts 2003 showcases vibrant organizations nationwide that are developing successful new models, solving problems or meeting organizational challenges in new and innovative ways. Case studies demonstrate the many ways that youth media makes its mark, from community-based efforts in a shopping mall in Hawaii to distribution channels for youth productions in New York City. Topics for organizational case studies in A Closer Look 2003 include the use of youth media for conflict resolution after riots, a longitudinal look at community building, extending youth media production to peer leadership and organizing efforts, work in youth-centered environments, educational strategies for gender-specific media education, learning about and through interactive, digital media in informal social environments, and the use of youth media for social justice and public health initiatives.
