Highlander's vision includes building a movement for justice that reaches across the South and Appalachia and connects to the world. And it starts with people working together. So we want to explore some key things: What helps people come together? What helps people move together? How can this kind of activity grow and change the world?
Goals:
To bring together a diverse group of activists and others working for social change to talk about popular education and organizing To hear from organizers/activists/popular educators about what are ways to help build broader movements for social change To enable participants and Highlander staff to learn from each other about ideas and strategies for social change, both historically and current! To enable participants to relax, reflect, discuss, and have fun at Highlander Who is this for?
English and Spanish-speaking people and groups who would like to learn and share their experiences doing organizing and popular education
In addition, there will be -
Free time to relax, reflect, watch videos, talk with Highlander staff and other participants, use the resource center, enjoy the outdoors Simultaneous English/Spanish interpretation if needed The cost for this 2-1/2 day workshop is $350, which includes room and board.
